Bathing sites
15 minutes from Meyrières in the direction of Alès, come and discover the Camboux water sports center for a moment or a day at the water’s edge.
Canoeing, stand-up paddle, pedal boat, swimming, lazing around, picnicking in a green setting.You can also practice canyoning, caving or hiking from the base.
Less than an hour’s drive away, you’ll find plenty of places to swim in the Lozère or Gard rivers. In our gîtes, you’ll find a map showing all the best spots where the water is clear and cool for a pleasant moment of relaxation.
Fishing
The Gardon, a major river in the Cevennes, flows from the Lozère to the Rhône through the Gard.
The Gardon allows all types of fishermen to enjoy themselves at the water’s edge, whatever the species of fish they are looking for: trout, carp, pike-perch, perch and white fish.
Hiking
The surroundings of Meyrières are rich in easy paths winding through the forest and the hills. Good shoes are necessary, stones and slopes are part of our environment.

Visits
House of the miner of La Grand Combe and Mine-witness Alès
The exploitation of coal mines has marked the life of the Alès region since the 16th century. The museum of La Grand-Combe, a high place of the mining industry of the Gard, retraces the history of the mining basin and the life of the miners.
It is interesting to combine this visit with the mine-witness of Alès
This mining site trained apprentice miners between 1945 and 1968. Today it presents a retrospective of the coal mining activity of the Alès mining basin.
Dinopedia Parc
Through five areas spread over ten hectares, discover the largest collection of animated dinosaurs in France. 55 specimens roam the site of Dinopedia Parc; the site will host 83 residents in 2022.
On the menu of the theme park: a 1.5 km route in the woods, net games, evolution gallery, movie show and discovery of the fossil forest in a small train.
The historical reception of the site, now called « La plaine sacrée », has a restaurant offering traditional cuisine and local products. A children’s playground (excavation area and baby park) is conveniently located next to the dining area.
A store on the spot proposes a collection of products around the dinosaurs and the brand Dinopedia Nature.
Castle of Portes
Nicknamed the Vessel of the Cevennes because of its spectacular stone prow, unique in Europe, the Château de Portes, classified as a Historic Monument, and its pass watch over the old Régordane road used by the pilgrims of Saint-Gilles and the Crusaders to the Holy Land.
True gateway to the High Cevennes at the foot of Mont Lozère, it is located on the outskirts of the Cevennes National Park, which was listed as a World Heritage Site in June 2011 and defies more than 10 centuries of history.
Anduze et sa Bambouseraie
Anduze is a small medieval town full of charm where it is good to walk through the streets, whether to discover its monuments or to have a drink on the Place aux Herbes and eat in one of its many cafés and restaurants. As for shopping, you won’t be disappointed with the boutiques along the small streets, the famous potteries, and a flea market every Sunday morning.
Don’t miss the bamboo grove, a place of serenity and beauty where you can discover not only more than 1000 varieties of bamboo, but also giant sequoias, ponds, a Lao village. It is good to walk in the shady alleys and enjoy the peace of this extraordinary place.
Cave of Trabuc
10mn from Anduze and 20mn from Alès
Inhabited since Antiquity, den of the Camisards and the Trabucaires (highwaymen), the cave has a rich historical past.
Explored since 1823, the cave still has secrets to reveal. It already offers an underground mineral heritage of great beauty and animations that make the place even more magical.
The Pont-de Montvert
30km from Collet de Dèze, come and discover the charm of this historical village, crossed by the Tarn river, a place where it is good to spend some time hiking.
It is possible to swim in the Tarn river nearby.
The market of La Grand Combe
Wednesday and Saturday mornings in the city center. Typical Cévenol market with Mediterranean scents. Many local producers offer fruits, vegetables, goat cheese, honey and jams, traditional sausages, bread, etc. from the Gard and Lozere.
